to get in touch with ben:

what was the first CD or tape that you ever bought?

-Don’t think it was the first but the most memorable would definitely have to be Jay-Z’s The Blueprint. Between the rhymes and the production on that album it has to be my favorite Jay album. I think a lot of the best Jay songs aren’t even released as singles so when I go back and listen to “Never Change” and “Hola Hovito” its dope to reminisce about one of my first purchases.

what was the most recent CD you purchased?

Kanye’s “Graduation.” One of my favorite Hip-Hop albums of all time. The man just understands music. I don’t know a handful of Hip-Hop producers or artists that bring full orchestras into the studio to record and album. Favorite track on there would have to either be “I Wonder” or “Good Morning”.

describe your most memorable concert experience.

The most memorable would definitely have to be being front row for Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour this past March. He came up from under the stage, the setlist was ridiculous and he put on a crazy show, with Jeezy and Trey Songz as the openers. My favorite, most unique show ive ever been to would have to be Kanye’s Glow in the Dark Tour in Chicago after Graduation dropped. He came out on a spaceship, he and his band dressed in spacesuits and the stage and sets were unreal.

what is your biggest musical guilty pleasure (something you’d be embarrassed to have come up on shuffle but secretly love)

-Every once in a while, there’ll be some girl pop that I get into. I like some of Colbie Caillat’s music. I can’t help but get excited when I hear Waka Flocka Flame’s “O Lets Do It”. The song’s crunk as hell. Just sayin…

do you have a favorite song, artist or CD?

Rap: Jay-Z, Biggie, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean (not my top 5 just my favorites)
Indie: Elliott Smith
Electronic/Electro: Daft Punk, Justice and A Trak
Rock/Pop: Red Hot Chili Peppers (Blood Sugar Sex Magik is greaat), The Strokes, Vampire Weekend
