In true Missy form, she is giving fans to much audio to handle. Shortly after dropping off her new single, “9th Inning,” she has released another track with Timbaland called “Triple Threat.”
In contrast to her other single, “Triple Threat” takes advantage of the futuristic production Timbaland has come to be known for since his work with artists like Justin Timberlake. But Missy makes sure to keep things gritty as she threatens to “smack whoever called her irrelevant” and reminds everyone that anything she touches “blows up.”
See why Missy considers herself a “Triple Threat” below:
Of Missy’s newly released singles, “Triple Threat” is undoubtedly the stronger choice for promotion. It capitalizes on a sound that has become signature to Timbaland, while allowing Missy to showcase why she is widely considered one of Hiphop’s most innovative MCs. It also does a better job of presenting Missy’s comeback because the focus is mostly on the female rapper as Timb sticks to hook duties. This track makes me excited to hear more from Missy, and see how she plans to keep herself prominent in an industry that isn’t exactly kind to older artists.
