Last week, we introduced you to Sam Lao, the first lady of Dallas based hip-hop collective Brain Gang. This week we have a track from the self professed poet of the crew, Bobby Sessions. “Lebron James” is goes well with old school, The Roots records. The song is minimalistic with sparse piano licks and a loose jazzy bass line later joined at its start and midway through the beat switches to lounge-ready band and a loop of soft female vocals. Sessions, meanwhile supplies cathartic rhymes that come off as a freestyle, in the jazz sense though. The words and cadences are an instrument of their own, telling a story that coalesces with all sounds present.
