Brandy’s new album, Two Eleven, isn’t due out for a couple months, so it’s only right she gives her fans another sample of what’s to come. That preview has come in the form of the R&B vet’s second single. “Wildest Dreams,” which was inspired by her current relationship, features Brandy expressing her disbelief of finding true love. The track was written by Sean Garrett and produced by Tha Bizness.
The songstress recently talked to Billboard about the track, calling it a “90s 2012 record.” Check out the blast from the past below.
Brandy certainly wasn’t lying when she said the track would have a retro feel. Between the beat and the layered backing vocals, this could’ve easily fit in on Never Say Never or even Full Moon. That fact, however, is the track’s greatest problem. Despite Brandy sounding damn good, the track is dated and doesn’t translate well on radio. In other words, it’s a great song, poor single.
On another note, Brandy really needs to get some live performances on her schedule. Many people are surprisingly still in the dark about her comeback so it’s time for some televised appearances to get the singer on people’s radars again. I’m rooting for you Brandy. Don’t let your record label screw this up.
