News: Frank Ocean Scores Big at 2013 Grammys Nominations

December 5, 2012 No comments yet

What may have been a regular old hump day for many just became a monumental night in cementing Frank Ocean’s presence in the music industry. Indeed, the Recording Academy announced nominations for the 2013 ceremony, and Def Jam’s Frank Ocean scored nods in some of the show’s most prestigious categories. Besides the obvious acknowledgement for “Best New Artist,” the elusive singer received recognition in both “Record of the Year” and “Album of the Year” categories.

Frank Ocean (with his 6 nominations) is not the only artist with something to celebrate though. After previously being snubbed by the Academy (and venting about it), Miguel’s R&B smash “Adorn” received a look in the show’s “Song of the Year” list. Noticeably absent from the list was Nicki Minaj who may be killing it in endorsements, but is obviously not earning any gold stars by the Academy,

Check out some of the other nominations below.
