Sigur Rós – Hoppípolla
The 2006 Raj is screaming “YESSSSSSS” but the 2011 me is thinking “about damn time!” INNI is the latest release from Icelandic fellows Sigur Rós and it features live tracks from each of their studio albums. It has been over three years since we’ve heard from this quartet so it’s nice to hear some fresh material, even though these tracks date back to 2008. Along with the 2CD album, there is a DVD (shot in Black & White) that contains half of the material and if you’d like, you can watch the first ten minutes of the footage by clicking the thumbs up button on their facebook page!
Note: Sigur Ros’s compositions have been featured in movies like 127 Hours and events like the FIFA World Cup. If this is your first time listening to Sigur, just know that a) you probably won’t understand any of it b) it’s extremely minimalistic c) it is beautiful music d) you should kick yourself for not discovering them earlier. If you like what you hear, pre-order it. INNI will be out in the U.S. next week!
