San Francisco’s Jeremy “Passion” Manongdo is somewhat of a Youtube celebrity, in his own right. As a long time subscriber, (“long time” meaning three years, technically) one can get covetous, even protective, of their favorite online talents. But, with as much original content, and a catalog of covers, medleys and soulful renditions that date back to early 2006, (Youtube’s dark ages) Passion is no one’s “little secret.”
So, today’s edition of “Smothered & Covered” is a display, of sorts, of what Jeremy does best: a jam packed, varied, and highly technical medley. The “TwitBook” title originates from Passion taking requests from fans and subscribers via his Twitter and Facebook page and turning them into these impressive performances. In the past, Jeremy has gone solo — utilizing either guitar or piano as accompaniment — but, for this latest installment, he’s enlisted the help of drummer Danny Morledge to add a much needed pulse.
Covering tracks ranging from Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie”, to Frank Ocean’s “Super Rich Kids”, to even Blackstreet & Mya’s “Take Me There”, (Rugrats OST is a classic [DEBATE ME]) Jeremy melds these tracks seamlessly (even despite some hiccups in the lyrics and a more sullen tone to end the video.) Check the covers out below and make sure to keep an eye on this one. He might just cover your favorite song soon.
