“The Year is 3020 CE and these are tumultuous times. All forms of individual expression have been prohibited by law and in the major cities we are forced to live under the constant surveillance of the world government (Cozack Corporation). Over the last 700 years they have managed to effectively rule the world as they see fit. We are S.Y.O.R and we have decided to take matters into our own hands. We will no longer allow Cozack Corporation to rob us of our freedoms. We encourage you all to join us, rise up and Start Your Own Rebellion!”

StartYourOwnRebellion is an electronica/hip hop band that just recently signed to J. Cole’s Dreamvillain label. That fact alone makes them credible because it should be no question that J. Cole has a great ear for music. They sound like a fusion of Gorillaz and Flobots, with a hint of Deltron 3030. Two of the tracks above are over Ratatat songs (Crazy World samples Tacobel Canon, which was also sampled by Cudi for ‘Heaven At Nite’) but most of the mixtape is original production actually the whole tape is over Ratatat except the J. Cole feature haha. These guys have a lot of potential so keep an ear out and ‘like’ them on Facebook!
