Well, shoutout to Jessie Ware for this one. Jessie shared this track on Facebook with the caption “Wonderful voice and production by my perfect producer Dave Okumu.” Okumu cowrote on and produced Ware’s debut album so we know he knows what’s good. Now you’re gonna want to make room in your cold heart for Kwabs because he just might stay for a while.
“Spirit Fade” landed Kwabs a spot on the MJF gentle scale somewhere inbetween Sampha and James Blake, a place I can only dream of being. I’d also describe his style as a mesh of the aforementioned artists. The production is almost bare yet a thing of beauty and Kwabs has one of those voices that I feel no need to try and sell you people on appreciating. If you don’t get it why are you even here?
