Rilo Kiley was our introduction to Jenny Lewis. Because we weren’t old enough to remember her career as child actress. It wouldn’t be until our obsession with Jenny grew that we would go back and watch her Jell-O commercial or her parts in Baywatch, The Wizard, Roseanne and Golden Girls. In the 2000’s Jenny Lewis was after our hearts. How adorable was she in the “We Will Become Silhouettes” video?

We loved her music with Bright Eyes, The Watson Twins, M. Ward and Dntel but a lot of our favorite Jenny Lewis moments are with Rilo Kiley, which disbanded when her relationship with Blake Sennett fizzled out. Now Jenny is dating some dick named Jonathan Rice and they perform as “Jenny & Johnny.” What I’m trying to say is Jenny Lewis is the Indie Rock game Erykah Badu.

While Rilo Kiley may never get back together, they are gearing up to release RKives, a collection of B-sides and Rilo rarities. “Let Me Back In” (formerly just “I Love LA”) is an awesome dedication to the place I now call home. I spend my weekends at Runyon canyon peering to the ocean through smog layers, wondering if Jenny Lewis is out there somewhere, looking back.

Hear “Let Me Back In” below and stick around for some Jenny photos and “The Frug.” RKives is out April 2nd.
