Greetings, Stonesthrow. MED has a new release on the way and for this one he brought superduo Exile & Blu out of retirement with the 45. If you can’t appreciate this you’re lost.
As far as I see it any music from that boy Blu is worth my money. A handful of short and succinct tracks. Soulful samples for Godlee Barnes to wax poetic over. This ought to hold us over until No York drops soon! Enjoy.

Blu – Keep It Going (ft. U-God) (prod. Flying Lotus)
Blu has always been one of the weirder, more unpredictable artists but you can always count on him to deliver. here’s what he said about the track in a rare tweet from him this week:

supposedly he’s working on a new album, which should be a relief to everyone wondering what’s been going on with Lee Barnes

Blu is another one of those mysterious hip hop forces. this song has been around since 2008 and now finally gets a video. it’s off his official debut solo LP theGODleeBarnes that received hardly any promo and is rough quality, supposedly because Blu’s harddrive crashed and lost the files. FACEPALM. not only that, but apparently he has no space bar
but it’s saul good, Blu is now signed to Warner. remains to be seen if that’ll result in new music out of this talented cat or if he’s doomed to Jay Electronica-syndrome. i get a feeling he doesn’t really give much of a fuck

woke up in a rolled blunt of amazement
she fine! this is a delightful song. and you already know BLU is that dude
from Andy’s UNFRESH LP
homey @bryan_payton asked on Twitter ‘what CD should I buy this weekend?’ at mjf we’re strong believers in going out and supporting dope material. Blu & Exile’s “Below The Heavens” is the closest to a modern day classic in hip hop since Little Brother’s “The Listening.” Fashawn’s “Boy Meets World” has also stayed heavy in rotation and it’s because of Exile’s soulful production. Exile & Blu make an even more memorable pairing. Blu, a son of a preacher, is the perfect voice for these beats. I hope they release a follow-up but until then…this is one of our favorite records to drop in a long time. enjoy it. if you really love it go cop that disc wherever good hiphop is sold
remember you can download these and any other tracks on here by right clicking and saving the links
Blu & Exile – My World Is..
Blu & Exile – So(ul) Amazin’ (Steel Blazin’)
Blu & Exile – Blu Colla Workers
Blu & Exile – You Are Now In The Clouds With (The Koochie Monstas)
Blu & Exile – The World Is (Below The Heavens..)
Blu & Exile – Simply Amazin’

he sounds a lot like Mario Winans (who i loved) but with more authenticity. there’s that undeniable soul in his songs that has people anxiously anticipating his debut album on Jive
Miguel Jontel – All I Want Is You (ft J. Cole)
this is the single off his album and you can tell why. i’ve had it on repeat. he kills the hook and j. cole is great in his cameo. perfect track
Johnson & Johnson – In the Building (ft. Miguel Jontel As Jontel Johnson)
this interlude off Blu & Mainframe’s Johnson & Johnson is some straight up GOSPEL. Miguel sounds like a throwback to Sam Cooke
Blu – Cold Hearted (ft. Miguel Jontel)
first cut off Blu & Exile’s “Below the Heavens” featuring Miguel. by know you know he likes to kill shit
Blu – First Things First (ft. Miguel Jontel)
another one of my favorites with Money Miguel on the hook. he sounds great over this kind of production
here’s a video of Miguel doing his thing live:
if you’re convinced by this point in the post you may as well check his mixtape
DOWNLOAD: Miguel Jonte – Mischief (Mixtape)
this is my favorite track off the tape FYI
Miguel Jontel – Super(natural)
oh and you might remember when we posted the video for U-N-I’s “Lately.” he did work on that hook too

off Her Favorite Colo(u)r, which drops August 24th (which is the day before my 23rd birthday…just saying seems convenient). yeah this has been out for a while but not this good of quality. Blu is one of the most exciting new emcees in the game. this track samples Radiohead’s “You and Whose Army” off Amnesiac (which i affectionately refer to as Kid B)
check out the original below and another interpolation by the Roots featuring my girlfriend, the sultry Jack Davey
Radiohead – You and Whose Army?
The Roots – Atonement (ft. Jack Davey)
The Roots – The Day (ft. Blu, Phonte & Patty Crash)
