During the first annual MTV Online Music Awards, Chidera from Chiddy Bang will attempt to break the world record for Longest Rap Freestyle. The current trophy holder is M-Eighty (from Naptown) who holds the record at 9 hours, 15 minutes, and 15 seconds. Do you think he will be able to beat that? I think he has an unfair advantage by letting people tweet topic ideas during the flow so he will always be able to look up and find something new to rap about. Still, this is going to be a historic moment for them, and I am hoping that he will be able to pull it off and shut up the naysayers who say that Chiddy Bang are a tween pop group.
The freestyle will be streaming at 2:30pm EST on the O Music Awards website.

XV- Words I Never Said (Freestyle)
Surprise, Surprise another XV freestyle released via twitter. This time he goes in on Lupes second single Words I Never Said sans Skylar Grey (thank god) People are comparing XV to Fiasco in his early days, can’t really say I agree with that comparison but I see where it comes from. He has been working way too hard for so long to go unnoticed and is getting better over time though. The freestyles that he release are usually on par but don’t have as much replay value as his original tracks. Quality > Quantity as the old saying goes, but besides the point this is a great freestyle

NYU has brought MJF some great moments over the past few months. First the alluring Laura Rose interviewed Chino Maurice for us, then Lil Dinky & Penis Bailey took us to the shopping mall. You’ll remember when Hobson & Reef from Fortune Family showed us their energy. Most recently Gorilla Warfare Tactics made a big splash with “Temptations,” proving once again that blogs are the new magazine. For my money, charting on HYPEMACHINE is better than charting on Billboard.
We saw Gorilla Warfare Tactics practically go from 0 Facebook fans to 800-some and their first official release was posted on several of my favorite blogs (plug: Pigeons & Planes/This Bonus Track/The Music Ninja in order of Google appearance). This second offering from Kid Dilla and Cake x Crumbs shows that they’re really not playing around. The beat was too cold and the flows were on some black out/spazzing out improvisational magic. Look for an EP of tracks from Gorilla Warfare Tactics in February!
