The Flaming Lips – Now I Understand (feat. Erykah Badu, Siri and Biz Markie)

I love The Flaming Lips because they embrace creative freakness and the collaboration on “Now I Understand” showcases this perfectly. As far as I know this is Siri’s musical debut, but I have a feeling that we’ll be hearing more of her in the future. Erykah Badu is her normal lovely self on the “sound construction piece,” however I’m a little upset because I was expecting more Biz Markie. According to Wayne Coyne, Biz is recorded backwards in the song so who knows where he may actually be.

Last week The Flaming Lips announced and offered some previews of collaborations with Bon Iver, Ke$ha, and Badu. In addition to those, Wayne was tweeting today about “workin on a sinister song with Phantogram,” which I am more than excited to hear.
