Those who know me know that I’m a huge fan of regional styles of Hip-Hop (New Orleans Bounce, Miami Bass, Baltimore Club Music, Go-Go, Chopped n’ Screwed, etc.). There’s something cool about areas having their own distinct sound that I’ve always appreciated.
Before I found out Chris Barz was from PG County, I knew he was from the DMV (D.C/Maryland/Virginia) because of the Go-Go style production on “Touch the Sky.”
And while he utilizes the same punchline format Big Sean used on “Supa Dupa,” which Drake then made popular on “Forever,” it doesn’t taint the song any. The lyrics are still dope and the beat (Produced by Chris himself, along with Craig Balmoris) is still amazing.
Mr. Barz seems to be a man of many hats, as he also hopped behind the lens to direct, shoot and edit this ill visual.
Be on the look out for his upcoming project, Angels & Jets, dropping on March 31st.
Props to the homie Keem for the alley-oop.
