Dawn Richard may like to keep her “armor on, but she embraces a softer side in her new video for “Wild N’ Faith.” The singer starts off the clip picking up with her warrior motif before she transforms into an angelic goddess for the video’s latter half. As the name implies, the video is a double dose of Dawn, combining the songs “Wild N’ Young” and “Faith” off her Armor On EP she released earlier this year.
In addition to promoting her EP, the electric performer is currently gearing up for the release of her debut solo album, GoldenHeart. Set to be released on October 16, Dawn has promised to push the R&B genre with the opus.
In the meantime, check out “Wild N’ Faith” below.
Dawn is very smart when it comes to creating visuals. She may not have the resources of a big label behind her, but she uses what she has to craft compelling stories. At its core, “Wild N’ Faith” is about getting back to the person you love because they make you “perfection,” and Dawn makes sure to weave this theme throughout the video using images of warriors and angels.
I really can’t stress enough how refreshing Dawn is as an artist. She isn’t afraid to push boundaries, even if it means losing some narrow-minded viewers in the process. She is giving her R&B colleagues a run for their money, and I can’t wait to see what she offers on her debut album.
