The talented Jhene Aiko travels to a dark place in her latest visual, “3:16AM.” Directed by Topshelf Junior, the eerie video shows the beautiful songstress dealing with inner turmoil while seemingly acting out her favorite Bella scenes from Twilight. Yeah, that’s pretty much all I took away from this.
And while I loved her last project, Sailing Soul(s), I’m a little concerned about how Def Jam is going to present her to the masses. What’s going to make mainstream music listeners want to purchase or even listen to her debut album? Although she’s very eclectic and a skilled songwriter, unless she’s singing about birthday cake or cashin’ out, I’m worried that her music will fall on deaf ears.
Maybe I’m overanalyzing the situation. What do you guys think? Do you see Jhene’s debut release, Souled Out, doing well?
