Sometimes you hear a song and it just blows you away. It engulfs you and swallows you whole into the magic of its melody until suddenly something happens – a phone call, a scream – and you snap back to reality just to realize where you were was much better, quickly putting your headphones back in. That is what Snakadaktal‘s “Dance Bear” does. Powerful and menacing, their pop-rock sound is an all-encompassing and addicting stream of caffeine to the bloodstream. One listen and your ears will be begging for you to replay it. Times like this I am so thankful for the repeat button.
Sankadaktal has gained widespread success in Australia, winning Triple J’s Unearthed High in 2011 and now New York’s Heavy Roc is helping to spread their goodness to the U.S. (Heavy Roc is the brainchild of Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner aka 1/2 of The Knocks and is now run by Ben and his managers Rene Symonds and Huck Kwong who amongst their credits, knew about St. Lucia before both you and me so you know they’ve got an EAR you can trust).
Today, we get the the official visuals for the song – a sweeping concoction of hypnotizing rock-filled landscapes induced with layers of smog and color to make your heart jump and your ears melt. ENJOY. And don’t miss Chad Valley’s remix of “Dance Bear.”
